The week following the theft-9/13/2009 thru 9/18/2009
I spent the entire week notifying my insurance company about the loss of the vehicle, contacting the valet company to place a claim, shopping for a replacement vehicle, renting a temporary vehicle, and contacting banks and credit unions regarding a loan for purchase of a replacement vehicle. I purchased a replacement vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Camry, which cost approximately $10,000.00.
On September 18th or 19th I returned to the same restaurant (James Beach). I asked the supervising valet, who was the same supervising valet present on the night my vehicle was stolen, how to get in touch with his valet company. He gave me a business card, which indicated that the valet company was Imperial Parking Industries, Inc, with the name of Danny Semann , parking supervisor. I have known Danny as the parking supervisor at that location for many years, but he was not present that night or the night my vehicle was stolen.
Inside the restaurant I was approached while dining by one of the owners/partners, Daniel Samakow, who tried to make light of the fact that my vehicle was stolen at his restaurant (by a customer who was drunk and was drinking at his bar and due to the neglect of the valet company he had hired), He was joking that I was the lucky (and only) patron who had ever had their vehicle stolen there.
He made sure to tell me that the valet company was an independent contractor, and were not employees of James Beach or Canal Club (one of the other restaurants owned by the partnership at James Beach and located right across the street from James Beach, and serviced by the same valet company, owners, and "manager").While seated in one of these restaurants, you can order food from the other restaurant, and it will be delivered to you where ever you are.
